The Winds of Change

HardTruth02V-5PERHAPS YOU’VE NOTICED…that over the last hundred and fifty years or so, the planet’s balance of power has shifted ever-westward, from Bismarck’s Europe and the Victorian imperium of Piccadilly to America the Beautiful.

Grounded in the most glorious founding documents in human history, America’s ascendancy reached its zenith in the mid to late 20th century. And then, like some chronically diseased body politic, began to decay from its growing addiction to deficits and debt; an addiction facilitated by the financial tyranny of the drug dealer; a private bank owned by Wall Street that creates the narcotics out of fiscal whole cloth.

And if America’s suicidal domestic policy was not enough, our military-industrial-complex-driven foreign policy has turned us into a global hit man.

An excerpt from a King World News interview with former U.S. Treasury official, Dr. Paul Craig Roberts, provides an uncomfortable perspective on this scorched-earth foreign policy:

“With the Clinton regime’s attack on Serbia, Washington began eliminating governments that are obstacles to its hegemony. The U.S. government has overthrown the Iraqi and Libyan governments with military force, instigated a military attack by outside Islamist forces on the Syrian government, demonized Iran as a precursor to military attack, captured the former Russian province of Georgia in a U.S.-financed ‘color revolution,’ overthrown the elected Honduran government, unleashed orchestrated protests against the government of Venezuela, threatened Bolivia and Ecuador, routinely attacks with drones and missiles populations in Pakistan and Yemen, and has been at war against the Taliban in Afghanistan for 13 years.”

Thirteen years in Afghanistan. For what? More than 20,000 dead and wounded. $641 billion and climbing towards a trillion.

For what?
